Beginnings

Father and son Cayce and Kyle Tiesler began pursuit of a small school mountain bike team in 2015 with the desire to share the love of cycling, benefits of exercise, and the returns of community service. With the TN Interscholastic Cycling League (thru NICA) as the starting gate, they launched their Cheatham County, Dickson County, and now Davidson County TN-NICA "composite team", with the holeshot of 12 boy and 1 girl student-athletes. August 2016, Harpeth Youth Cycling has grown to 24 boys and 3 girls, has fundraised and donated over $500 towards community projects, and volunteered over 1000 hours towards service work. As of today we have over 30 student athletes assisted by about 25 volunteers that are involved in the organization. Harpeth Youth Cycling is looking for 6-12th grade Cheatham, Dickson, and Davidson County students to join at any time. This includes home school students. Harpeth Youth Cycling requires help with financial support, cycling equipment, and ride mentors/volunteers - all assistance is welcome!

Testimonials

Harpeth Youth Cycling has provided an irreplaceable opportunity for my 7th grade son. Since he attends a small private school, he doesn’t have many friends with a similar interest in mountain biking, and the school could never provide a team. Harpeth Youth provides all of these – friends with whom he can share his interests, opportunities to build skills and to test them in races, and, most importantly, coaches and parents that encourage, support, and assist in all aspects of running a competitive team. The camaraderie and friendly competitive spirit instills confidence in my son that positively influence other aspects of his life.

HYCC has been beneficial to both my middle school and high school sons. Their involvement in the HYCC has helped them grow confidence and proficiency as off-road cyclists while pursuing a healthy active lifestyle. But probably the biggest benefit has been the opportunity to develop lasting friendships with other young athletes with similar interests, which makes it fun.
— Pat Stacey (Coach)
The opportunity to race with Harpeth Youth Cycling has been a great way for Matthew to connect with other young cyclists. Being on the team has encouraged leadership and camaraderie, and exposed Matthew to new riding opportunities and extra riding instruction from coaches with a broad experience background. At the races, he knows he has the support he needs to be his best from other riders and the parent volunteers.

About Me

MY NAME IS Cayce

Youth development and cycling have been my passion and enjoyment for over 25 years. In 2014, my son and I began Harpeth Youth Cycling with the help of parents and volunteers of the same passion. Together, we've grown and helped many youth achieve life and cycling goals within our program. I am so stoked to offer Harpeth Youth Cycling to our local community.
